It's the last day of Black History Month but our heritage lives on throughout the year. We have a rich legacy that will continue to shine and inspire masses. Behind me is a poster of activist Nelson Mandela who was South Africa's first president. He was the country's first Black head of state and the first elected in a fully representative democratic election. Mandela was globally regarded as an icon of moral leadership, peace, democracy and social justice, receiving more than 250 honours, including the Nobel Peace Prize. Mandela served 27 years in prison for fighting against the apartheid government. "The struggle is my life", says the poster and his words were a true testament to his mission.
